South Carolina Nursing Home Update:
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Services has tested the well water at the Ridgeway Manor Healthcare Center in Ridgeway, South Carolina, which came back negative, according to a TV news report. The facility has allowed its residents to use the water in the facility, again according to the news report. The problem with this is that the legionella bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease resides in shower heads and other devices within the facility. While the well water may be safe, the devices within the facility may not be.
